The Cannes Film Festival next month will be the stage for a world wide presentation of a feature film written and produced by former Wallasey man Carl J Gavine

The film, “Naughty Boys” has been picked up in Hollywood by Mania Entertainment and nine of the leading cast members have already signed letters of intent. These include Nigel Havers (Chariots of Fire, Empire of the Sun, A Passage to India), Tony Maudsley (Harry Potter, Sleepy Hollow & Benidorm), Gillian Kearney (Emmerdale & Shirley Valentine), Jimmy Vee (R2-D2 in Star Wars:The Last Jedi, Harry Potter & Pan), Bhasker Patel (Emmerdale & Indiana Jones) and Alex Maruny {The Promise & Risen).

“Naughty Boys” is a British feature film in the style of “The Full Monty”, “Bend It Like Beckham” and “Bridget Jones’s Diary”. and in an exclusive interview with Mersey Magazine, Carl confirmed that plans are already well advanced for filming to start in Liverpool and London in September

He is also keen to convert the story into a stage play and his  dream would be to have it performed at the Liverpool Everyman or Playhouse theatres.

“Naughty Boys” is about a university student from Liverpool who, while struggling to make ends meet in London, discovers that she can make her fortune by spanking rich men’s bottoms.

Emma, a maths student from Liverpool, wins a place at the famed Imperial College in London

She is the first member of her family to attend university and sets off to the big city with high expectations of the life ahead

Her expectations sadly are quickly doused as, on arrival, she discovers that her lodgings will be a rundown bedsit above a failing Indian restaurant.

Mo is the handsome son of Mohamed Mukopadhyay, the restaurant owner, and he and Emma quickly become friends

It is not long before Emma also befriends the beautiful Vicki who never fails to turn heads in her designer mini skirts, hand bags and high heeled shoes.

After Emma discovers that Vicki lives alone in an expensive penthouse apartment she quizzes her friend as to how she can afford such luxury.  Vicki confides that she makes her income by spanking the bottoms of rich and generous business men. She then allows Emma the opportunity to hide in a closet to observe her with a client. After seeing how easy it is to make such large sums of money, Emma asks for Vicki’s help in setting up a business of her own. Besides lending Emma some of her own costumes, Vicki also takes her friend to an Adult store in search of more kinky outfits.  Emma is soon thriving to such an extent that she is able to move into the luxury flat below Emma, which is almost the cause of her downfall when her family suddenly arrive from Liverpool without prior notice. As Vicki begins to fall for Mo, Emma has her own romantic designs on Roberto, a young Spanish speaking Chelsea footballer, who was sent to her for English lessons by a mischievous John Terry. Emma freaks out when she is outed as a mystery Wag in all the newspapers but Vicki comes to the rescue by saving both Emma’s reputation and Mohamed’s restaurant.

“Naughty Boys” Director John Eyres (Irish Jam, Miss Sloane & Ripper) will be attending Cannes next month to promote the film at the festival.

The success of any film depends to a great degree on the actual end production and Carl has forged a close and highly successful working relationship with the film’s producer,  Nuala Quinn-Barton, the President of Mania Entertainment. Nuala’s recent credits include  “By Love Reclaimed: The Untold Story of Jean Harlow and Paul Bern”, “Homecoming” and the soon to be released “Goodbye Christopher Robin” starring Margot Robbie.

Besides “Naughty Boys”, Carl. who now resides with his wife near Llangollen in North Wales, has also written an American comedy feature film, “Olympique” which has also been picked up in Hollywood.

Pictured left, Carl’s early career centred around  broadcasting for the Exchange Telegraph Company & Press Association in the early 1980’s and following a training course with the BBC  he was offered a position on the Radio Sport team

After great deliberation he decided to turn down the offer in order to pursue a career as a Professional Tennis Coach and over the last three decades he has taught junior champions in Florida, Puerto Rico, Antigua and Anguilla. He has also had many celebrity students including no less than 3 Oscar winners: the actor, Sir Peter Ustinov; film producer John Daly; writer Sir Ronald Harwood

Carl,  who first made the front page of the newspapers by virtue of being the first baby born in Merseyside on New Years Day, 1959, has been married to Amparo for 30 years and they have one son who is making massive inroads in the music industry.
